Quantum Lab up and Running!
Sweden's investment in its own quantum computer is taking a step from research to application. Within the framework of WACQT, the technology is being built up at Chalmers - and since 2024 Next Labs is responsible for making it available to both academia and industry.
Since 2018, the project to develop and build a Swedish quantum computer at Chalmers, within the framework of the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT) initiative, has been ongoing. Demand for its use is increasing, along with the need to be able to apply research to concrete problems.
Since 2024, Chalmers Next Labs has been responsible for the operation of the computer and the test bed that both researchers and companies use to test hardware and software.
Quantum Helpdesk provides support
In addition to the quantum computer, Chalmers Next Labs has a support department called Quantum Helpdesk, which guides and helps users to boil down their problems into executable quantum algorithms, as well as test equipment for companies that develop components in quantum technology. The idea is that you should not need much prior knowledge.
