Energy
We drive innovation for the urban energy systems of the future with a focus on low carbon, resilience and fair access. We develop solutions for renewable energy integration, energy flow optimization and energy efficiency. Our areas include energy modeling, AI and machine learning in energy analysis, resilient energy systems, energy storage, energy communities and sustainable energy policy.
Circularity
We develop urban systems based on circular principles to ensure sustainable resource use and minimize waste. The focus is on urban metabolism, material innovation and digital tools for circular systems, including circular cities, digital solutions for resource flows, policy and governance, and circular economy and financial mechanisms.
Social sustainability
We explore the interplay between technology, spatial systems and social factors to create inclusive, participatory and vibrant urban environments. Areas include digital urban governance, activity-based urban planning, co-creative processes, health and well-being, and cultural and creative innovation.
Urban planning
We integrate spatial networks, land use, transportation, green-blue infrastructure and energy systems to create sustainable and resilient cities. The focus is on climate adaptation, social equity and efficient urban structures. Areas include urban resilience, green-blue infrastructure, equity and accessibility in urban design, and integrated land use and transport systems.
Mobility
We develop urban mobility through intelligent, sustainable and inclusive mobility solutions. We work with data-driven models, energy-efficient transport systems and shared mobility services to reduce environmental impact. Examples of areas are urban mobility, smart transportation systems, shared mobility, high-resolution traffic data and pedestrian flows for urban planning.
Cross-sectoral analysis
We combine data and models from different domains - from energy flows and mobility to social networks and pedestrian traffic - to create holistic solutions for sustainable urban development. Our flagship product is the Urban Knowledge Graph, which uses AI to enable dynamic, real-time analysis and predictive modeling.
